The assembly was initially made aware, by citing Sri Lankan mainstream radio and ‘community’ radio experiences, the importance of a code of ethics and program guidelines to a broadcasting station and to its practitioners. Then the assembly developed a code of ethics in keeping with Gemidiriya principles and certain guidelines for the radio station, which, then fine-tuned by the Gemidiriya communities subsequently.

Gemidiriya   philosophy will be accepted as the philosophy of the Saru Community Radio
